The mobile phone has visibly changed the way we communicate to the world! Smart phones have literally started ruling our lives; be it remembering birthdays, things to do, appointments, alarm clock, social media, email, video conference, reading , storing and editing documents, taking photos and videos on the go, staying connected to the Internet as well as the rest of world just by a touch. Indeed, the power of touch has exceeded expectations, and it is only expected to do more in the coming years. The way I see it, the use of a laptop is going to be redundant once the memory of a phone is extended and the processor speed is increased. The next big thing in the world of communication is increase in speed of transmission. Of course, while scientists are working on it as I write, it can be safely said that an advanced smart phone is easier to handle and can be banked on to do the work of a laptop or a personal computer.
There are several applications or “apps” one can download on their mobile phone for various purposes some of these include being able to text anybody, anywhere, anytime, checking your bmi value, checking your heart pulse as well as blood pressure, for navigation and tracking and so many more diverse applications. Just about every day a myriad number and variety of apps are being developed for users that it is not going to be a surprise when communication between two individuals ceases to be face to face! However, just like every other technological innovation; the mobile phone has its share of advantages and disadvantages. However, the advantages obviously outweigh the cons, yet it makes me wonder, how did the previous generation manage to do well despite NOT having this little instrument?!
